The Turner Valley Braves Co-ed Slopitch team, representing zone 2 in the Alberta 55+ Summer Games, brought home the silver medal from Fairview last weekend. The Braves lost a tight game against Edmonton 3-2, but defeated teams from St. Albert, Red Deer and Calgary. This qualifies the team to play in the National Championships in 2012. Special thanks to Shelley Getten, score-keeper extraordinaire, Dean Younggren, on the disabled list, but made a surprise trip to Fairview to cheer the team on and finally, to Harry Cown, a terrific coach /manager/player, who made this all possible.
