Hundreds of Thousands of Christmas Lights in ONE Place

The Blackie Community would like to remind you that the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is coming to town. If you have never been to see the Holiday Train, scheduled to arrive in Blackie approximately at 1:00pm, Saturday, December 10th, you will be in for a treat. The Holiday Train will stop across from the Blackie Post Office (1201 Railway Ave). The show, put on by artists travelling across the country on this beautifully decorated train, is scheduled to start about 10 to 15 minutes after arrival and will last approximately 45 minutes.
The Holiday Train features 14 rail cars decorated with hundreds of thousands of technology-leading LED festival lights and other decorations. One of the cars is a modified boxcar that has been turned into a travelling stage for performers, this year the legendary Valdy will be joined by Brothers Dube and Tracey Brown among others.
The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train has been raising food, money and awareness for food banks in communities across Canada and the U.S. since 1999. To date, they've helped raise $5.6 million and 2.45 million pounds of food with their Holiday Train program.
The goal of the Holiday Train is to collect food and money for local food banks and to raise awareness in the fight against hunger. At each event, the Holiday Train provides a box car stage, a line up of great musical talents and a corporate contribution to the local food bank. The community, in turn, is encouraged to donate food and funds, all of which stays in the community.
The Blackie Community would like to extend an invitation to everyone to attend this wonderful event and only ask that you bring a cash donation or a non-perishable food item for our local food bank. Come for a coffee and a hot chocolate courtesy of Blackie Rebekah's Fairview #115.
There will be other festivities happening that day such as a “Christmas Shopping Gala” from11:00am to 4:00pm at the Blackie Community Hall and I.O.O.F. Hall (behind the Blackie Post Office). Hockey games will be played at the Blackie arena.
Chilli and a bun will be served by the Blackie Lions Club and the Blackie Canskate Club. All proceeds go to the Blackie & District Food Bank.
Something for everyone! Come out and enjoy the day!
