Longview Link By Chey Nickerson

The winds have settled a little and everyone is out cleaning up shingles, tree limbs, branches, leaves and many other pieces and parts of things that were missiles in yesterdays big wind storm. Although we experienced VERY high winds, we seem to be one of the luckier places when it comes to damage done. A few of us who were silly enough to think a fabric tent would remain in place in Longview were soon taught differently, and other than cleaning up a few trees that just didn't measure up to the wind speeds we actually faired quite well. Watching the news of the wild fires and seeing first- hand the damage from High River, Okotoks and, making a drive along Deerfoot Trail during the storm, I know how severe the winds were and am thankful that we only had as much damage as we did.
Longview has lost two of our long term residents in the past few weeks. Our sympathies go out to the Dewane family in the loss of Pat and also to the family of Lee Lantz, business owner and past member of Council in Longview. Both these men will be missed greatly in the community.
Get well wishes for Kendra Harding and Terry Brown. Hope you're feeling much better very soon.
Just a note to all to drive careful and please, don't drink and drive at any time during the year, but especially during the upcoming holiday season. That's a memory none of us want to keep for years to come.
Have a great few weeks.
~ Chey
