The second annual Summer Fine Arts Festival at Notre Dame Collegiate on June 3rd created something for everyone.

The High River school celebrated Fine Arts by showcasing original music by feature performer Calum Graham, presenting the school's first student-directed mainstage production, Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz and various visual arts displays.
“We created this festival so both the school and the community had an opportunity to share their love of Fine Arts,” Festival Coordinator Joel Windsor says. “The mentorship the students get by putting their artwork up beside respected community artisans is not easily duplicated.”

With the students inspiring adults as well as their peers, a Trade Show that local businesses and organizations can take part in was added to the program this year. “The only element missing last year was the business element,” Joel says. “Community businesses and Fine Arts businesses should have a venue to be celebrated, and this year we have it.”

School bands joined the music scene with live performances, adding ambiance to an upbeat atmosphere of food, drink, theater and celebration of artistic creation. The school held tours of their New Media Department and demonstrations in the Evanescence Gallery and Art Studio.

Plans are already underway to make next year's Festival even bigger and better.
