In their June 2011 issue, Venture Magazine has ranked Okotoks as one of the Top 25 Best Communities to do Business in Western Canada.

The magazine evaluated communities based on the optimal balance between low costs and high traffic, existing strengths and upside potential. According to the Venture judges, Okotoks possesses the variety of factors that make a community a good place to live, work and play.

www.albertaventure.com states, “The promise of a good job, lower taxes and a business-friendly municipality needs to strike a balance with where people want to invest their lives and families. Businesses need assurance that a community provides a stable climate for their investments.”

Okotoks was also ranked as one of the top 4 Best Communities for Small Business in Western Canada in 2011 and Alberta Venture noted that the Okotoks business property tax rate is one of the lowest in the Calgary Region.

Okotoks Economic Development Team Leader Shane Olson says, “This accomplishment demonstrates the strength of the local Okotoks economy and is a reflection of the dedication of our local business leaders.

Being in the Top 25 Best Communities for business ranking shows Okotoks has a very competitive and affordable business climate that continues to be attractive to investors.”

Okotoks was also previously ranked by Alberta Venture as one of Alberta's 10 Best Communities for Business 2008, the "Fastest Growth Node" in 2009 and "Top 5 Communities to Watch" in 2010 for future growth.
