The Sheep River Health Trust is pleased to announce a generous donation from the Turner Valley Legion Poppy Fund.

$12,500 from the fund has been dedicated to support senior citizens in Rising Sun Long Term Care, allocating $5000 towards the purchase of 24 Hour Blood Monitors for use in the communities of Black Diamond, Turner Valley and Okotoks.

The 24 Hour Blood Monitors will allow doctors to better understand the condition of their clients by monitoring blood pressure over a 24-hour time period while the client performs their usual daily activities, enabling physicians to develop a more accurate treatment plan.

Since 1994 the Sheep River Health Trust has partnered with the Turner Valley Legion to support various health initiatives in the Foothills area. Previous donations from the Legion have helped fund the Wellness Health Nutrition and Exercise (WHEN) Program, which is offered to all seniors in the communities of Black Diamond, Turner Valley and Longview. Additionally, the Poppy Fund has also helped purchase several pieces of equipment and to update facilities, such as a medical assistance cart, a pulse oximeter, kangaroo feeding pumps, hygiene slings, thermo-heating pads, swivel stools for feeding, commodes and a family room at Oilfields General Hospital.

Established in 1994, the Sheep River Health Trust is a registered charitable organization that raises funds to support health services and wellness programs for the residents of Black Diamond, DeWinton, Longview, Millarville, Okotoks, Priddis, Turner Valley and the surrounding rural areas.
