Dinner in the Dark

At a recent fundraiser for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, hosted by Evan Reichert and Kim Tuck Reichert, all guests experienced what it would be like to try and eat dinner if you were blind.
The family in the photograph on the right is the same family in the photograph on the left, which was taken without the flash.
It really is difficult to imagine, but try just closing your eyes one day and pick up that corn-on-the-cob off your plate without landing your fingers in the mashed potatoes and gravy!
Last year 28-year-old Evan was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa which will eventually lead to blindness for him.
In their endeavours to understand the changes that their family’s lifestyle will have to undergo they were guided to the Foundation Fighting Blindness and decided to help the Foundation’s research by holding this unique fundraiser.
The sold-out event was an unprecedented success thanks to everyone who participated, either by attending or by donating many items for the bucket raffles and silent auction.
