October Bringing Lots of Colour to the Sheep Creek Arts Council

Submitted by Muriel Dais
Sheep Creek Arts Council members will be participating in Alberta Culture's celebration of “art in the community” on October 1st by inviting one and all to visit our gallery. There will be a demonstration of German flower painting as well as examples of several other club members' art works with the emphasis on flowers. We will be showing photographs of flowers, floral quilts, scrapbooks and other artifacts that have been produced in many of our classes over the last few years. Please accept our invitation to drop in on Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm to see some of what we do at the Arts Council. The address is 133 Sunset Blvd. West in Turner Valley (at the east end of The Valley Neighbours' Club building).
As a part of the Sheep River Library's participation in a Flower Power showcase, several of our members have art works hanging in the library's gallery. When you are in the Library, do visit the gallery and see what a wide variety of floral art is on display in a great range of mediums. We live in a community with some wonderfully talented people in our midst!
On October 22nd, the Sheep Creek Arts Council will be hosting Oktoberfest celebrations in The Valley Neighbour's Club facilities. Eva Leveque and Longhaul will provide the music; beer and Spolumbo's sausages are on the menu and there will be a silent auction of art works. Tickets are $8.00 each. More information and tickets may be obtained by phoning Jackie at 403-938-2032.
