Longview School - Talent Shared is Enjoyed!

See how the students of Longview School shared their talent with our local seniors at Christmas!

Students participate in school wide Eagle Pride activities during Eagle Pride Time every Friday afternoon. These team building and pride activities energize and engage our students to always do their best in everything they do! About every six weeks during our Eagle Pride Time we have a Talent Show and Share Showcase, where students get the opportunity to share with the whole school and parents any special musical, artistic or athletic abilities or talents they may have. On January 13th we had a full program of students sharing their talents. We have had students play the piano, guitar, trumpet, drums. We had students sing, dance, tell jokes, do magic tricks and demonstrate different athletic skills including volleyball, martial arts, skipping and hula hoop. Our next Talent Show and Share is scheduled for Friday February 10th. In the spirit of Eagle Pride, a number of Longview Students went to the Rising Sun Extended Care Facility at Oilfields Hospital during the Christmas Holidays to share a variety of talents. Students played piano, guitar, harmonica, sang and performed Irish dances. The seniors greatly appreciated the visit and were very impressed with the student's abilities.
This activity was organized by Mrs. Graham, Longview School Office Administrator, to develop student performance skills, share their talent and give back to the community in which they are apart. There is heart and soul in everything that goes on at our school and it is the staff, students and community that fosters this. Our school and community embrace individuals that are caring, genuine, positive, friendly and kind like Mrs. Graham. Our school is a supportive environment that empowers students, staff and parents to do their best and be involved. We believe that when students understand and work on the characteristics of responsible learning which include confidence, respect, independence, work habits and citizenship, they are more engaged. These characteristics are a very important piece in learning and leading an active, creative and engaged life. It is wonderful to see Foothills School Division employees, students, parents and community members modeling these characteristics and giving back to the community. Thank you to Ms. Graham, Jade Nelson, Ashley Nelson, Willow McDonald, Hope Roberts, Georgia Edey, Cooper Bews, Jagger Doram, Flynn Roberts, Coby Stuart.
