Millarville’s Cool News

The Grade One class at Millarville Community School has been studying the celebrations and traditions of our families and friends. We all brought an artifact to school to share with the class, to show and tell about our family celebrations and traditions.
We also learned about celebrations of other cultures. We learned about Diwali, which is the festival of lights. During Diwali, people pray, light candles and have fireworks. We had the Museum of the Highwood visit our class. They showed us old toys and told us about old-fashioned Christmases.
We ended with our unit of inquiry with a big party. We made up our own NEW celebrations of some things that we love. We had everything from Hockey Day to Chocolate Day celebrated at the party. We ate pizza and cupcakes and watched “Moira's Birthday” by Robert Munsch.
We are all excited to celebrate Christmas and sing at our Christmas Concert on December 22nd.
We wish everybody a very Merry Christmas!
